Behind the ornamental wrought-iron gate adjoining the north transept is the Resurrection Chapel. Above the gate appears the phrase, “Requiescant in Pace”, or “May They Rest in Peace.” The Chapel holds the tombs of the deceased bishops of Cleveland as well as the Coat of Arms of Bishop James Hickey, the eighth Bishop of Cleveland, who became the Archbishop of Washington, D.C., and was elevated to the dignity of Cardinal.
Inscriptions on the marble frontispieces identify the burial spots respectively, with significant dates, and brief personal information on each Bishop.
