The Parish Pastoral Council for the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist is the consultative body commissioned to discern pastoral plans and policies with the parish administrator and his staff for the spiritual benefit and enhancement of the parish and our community.
The Council is the venue for parishioners to speak their truthful concerns openly and freely. At monthly meetings the Council addresses those matters identified by the parishioners, ministries, pastoral staff and the Council itself. The Council then works prayerfully with the administrator and his staff to implement appropriate pastoral plans and policies to address these issues, needs, concerns, and recommendations which affect the spiritual and pastoral well being of the parish and its greater community. These decisions and discussions are communicated to the parishioners.
Ultimately, the council will consist of seven parishioners and the parish administrator. Five members of the Council will be selected from the ranks of Ministry Leaders and two at-large members will be determined by recommendation. Council leadership positions of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary are selected from the ranks of Council annually in June, and will serve 1 year terms.
