Summary of Pastoral Council Meeting
13 September 2007
All Council members and Fr. Estok were present.
• The wording of the PPC Guidelines generated at the first meeting and published in a recent Sunday Bulletin underwent a final review. Minor wording changes were suggested, and agreed upon. The final document will be poated in its updated form on the parish website.
• Council discussed some ideas on how to solicit input from the parish community at large: 1) Print cards for parishioner suggestions and input, and place them in the pews for people to drop into the collection baskets at all Masses. 2) Track suggestions in a “spreadsheet” format to be able to give feedback to those who made suggestions. 3) Town Hall Meetings. 4) Set up an e-mail account on the parish website. 5) Hold open sessions at each PPC meeting so parishioners may attend, and give their input and suggestions, followed by closed sessions for business. 6) Create and distribute a letter to the parishioners introducing Council and encouraging their input and participation in the process.
• Building the parish and formation of its community were discussed in terms of how the council might nurture these processes as an integral part of what the council does. A general discussion ensued considering: 1) The Basics of how to move the process forward. 2) A Gentle Massage approach. 3) A Formative process.
The next Council meeting will be held Thurs. Oct. 11th at 6:30 pm.
