About our Cathedral For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. Since 1848, this historic Cathedral church in the middle of Cleveland’s civic center has served Catholics and the wider community of Cleveland as a prayerful oasis and spiritual home. As the Bishop’s Church, the Cathedral is the “Mother Church” for over 800,000 Catholics in the Diocese of Cleveland. It is also a vibrant, growing parish community, praising God and serving him in the parish neighborhood.
