The Sacred Heart Chapel - A statue of the Sacred Heart adorns the back wall of the Cathedral’s north transept. The great mural that covers the wall depicts the Book of Revelations. Symbols of trumpets, seals, vials, the Four Horsemen, and the Woman & the Dragon, signify the conflict between the forces of good and evil in the world. These, and the final victory of the new Jerusalem are set down in the last book of the New Testament by St. John the Evangelist.
St. John is depicted by the statue on the west wall of the transept, and below it is the statue of the Pieta. Significantly, the center of the rose window overhead displays the Hand of God. |
