The 60th / 160th Anniversary of
The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

A year of celebration will begin on
September 6, 2008
(the 60th anniversary of the re-dedication of the Cathedral)
and continue until
December 25, 2009
(the 160th anniversary of the first time the Eucharist was celebrated on this property).

The festivities will begin with Mass celebrated by Bishop Richard G. Lennon
4:30 pm - Saturday, 6 September 2008
and
10:30 am - Sunday, 7 September 2008
All are invited to attend.

Below are just some of the events planned to commemorate and celebrate the gift of our Cathedral.

The Evangelization Ministry of the Cathedral has produced a video documentary of the history and role the Cathedral has played for nearly 160 years in Cleveland. The DVD highlights the beautiful cathedral building in which we celebrate the Eucharist and the wonderful Body of Christ at work within this building - our Cathedral parish, everybody’s church. The DVD of this production will be available after the weekend Masses, at the Rectory Office, or by using the link below.

Our Cathedral Choir has recorded their sixth album. It is dedicated to the Mysteria Rosarii/Mysteries of the Rosary. It will be ready for the September 6th celebration.
Display boards have been constructed to highlight photos of the re-construction and historical photos of the original building. They will be located at the west end of the Cathedral nave.
An evening lecture will be held on October 19th, on the history of the Diocese and the architecture of the Cathedral.
Our Winterfest Dinner Dancewill feature a Big Band/Swing Theme (from the time of the re-construction and re-dedication of the Cathedral)
The dedication of new interior doors for the Cathedral.
